Top Questions to Ask a Wedding Planner in New Jersey Before You Hire Them

Hiring a wedding planner isn’t just about checking a box, it’s about choosing someone you trust to guide one of the most meaningful (and expensive) events you’ll ever plan. Here are the top questions we think every couple should ask, plus how we answer them at Well-Dressed Events.

1. What services do you actually include?

Planners define “full service” differently. We offer three levels—The Full Edit, The Select, and The Capsule—each with clearly outlined deliverables. (You can see them here.)

2. How do you price your services?

Flat rate, always. No percentage surprises. Your budget is your budget. We price based on the scope and complexity of your event, not how much you’re spending on florals.

3. Will I work with the same person the entire time?

Yes. From day one, you’re paired with a lead planner who stays with you through the whole process. No switch-ups, no surprises.

4. How many clients do you take on at once?

Our planners only take on a limited number of weddings per season so we can give each couple the time and attention they deserve.

5. What’s your communication style?

Voxer voice messaging, collaborative timelines, and scheduled check-ins. You won’t be left waiting days for a reply. You’ll always know what’s next.

6. Do you offer design support?

Yes, if your package includes it. But we also offer strategy-only packages for those who want help with logistics but already have a clear aesthetic.

7. What happens if a vendor cancels or something goes wrong?

We’ve got contingency plans for your contingency plans. Backups, contracts, insurance—we’ve done this before. We’ll be ready.

8. Have you worked at my venue before?

If yes, great. If no, even better—we’ll tour it with your vendors and do our due diligence.

9. Do you have preferred vendors?

Yes, but we don’t force you into any. We give you options that match your vision, vibe, and budget. No kickbacks. Just good partnerships.

10. What makes you different from other planners?

We’re a team, not a solo operation. That means structure, accountability, and deep support. Kristen personally vets every couple, and your lead planner stays with you the whole time. No handoffs. No burnout. Just really thoughtful planning.
