Jan 21, 2023

Planning a wedding in New Jersey can be a daunting task, especially if you’re trying to plan it on your own without a wedding planner. Do you know how many hours couples spend planning their own weddings in New Jersey? We do!

If you’re new around here, we’re Well-Dressed Events, New Jersey’s premier style-centric wedding, party and event planning company. We specialize in high-end, unique events for modern, bold, standout clients and we pride ourselves on cutting-edge, creative design, styling and event management. We have planned hundreds of weddings in our careers as New Jersey wedding planners, so we know a thing or two about how much time planning a wedding takes!

Believe it or not, the average wedding in New Jersey takes around 200 hours to plan, but that can vary depending on the size and complexity of your wedding. There are a lot of reasons couples choose to hire wedding planners, but certainly one of the biggest ones is time. Because, let’s face it, on top of work and family, and well…life, planning a wedding just becomes too much.

If you’re wondering how the heck we got to 200 hours, read on to find out!

The first thing you’ll need to do is choose a wedding venue. This can take anywhere from 20-40 hours depending on how many venues you visit and how much research you do. Since there are so many wedding venues to choose from here in New Jersey, we usually budget for 40 hours of research and vetting. Once you’ve chosen a venue, you’ll need to book it and finalize all the details. This can take around 10-20 hours.

Next, you’ll need to choose your New Jersey wedding vendors. This includes your photographer, videographer, DJ, florist, and any other vendors you may need. This can take around 50-70 hours, depending on how many vendors you need to research and interview. Of course, you’ll also be reviewing proposals and contracts, so that take time too.

Once you’ve chosen your vendors, you’ll need to finalize all the wedding day details with them. This can take around 20-30 hours. You’ll also need to create a wedding day timeline and make sure all your vendors are aware of it. This can take around 10-15 hours.

You’ll also need to choose your wedding attire and accessories. This can take around 20-30 hours, depending on how many stores you visit and how much research you do. Again, being in New Jersey where the wedding industry is so robust, it can take a little longer than you think.

Finally, you’ll need to take care of all the little details that go into planning a wedding. This includes creating a wedding website, sending out invitations, and creating a wedding day schedule. This can take around 20-30 hours.

So as you can see, planning a wedding in New Jersey can easily take 200 hours or more. It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it in the end. Remember to take your time and enjoy the process, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. With a little bit of planning and organization (and the right wedding planners on your team!), you’ll be able to plan the wedding of your dreams in no time.
